What Is a Cycling Helmet?

A cycling helmet is a hard-shell, foam-lined head protector designed to absorb impact energy in a crash. Modern helmets use expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam to crush on impact, dissipating the force before it reaches your skull. They’re lightweight, well-ventilated, and the single most important piece of cycling safety equipment.
