Taste and Texture
Grenade Carb Killa: Gooey, layered, and indulgent. The texture is soft and sticky — closest to a traditional chocolate bar. The coating cracks satisfyingly when you bite in. Some flavours (Oreo, White Chocolate Salted Peanut) are genuinely craveable.
Barebells: Smoother, firmer, and more refined. Think nougat rather than caramel. Less messy to eat, holds its shape better in warm weather. The Salty Peanut and Hazelnut Nougat flavours are consistently rated among the best protein bars ever made.
Flavour Range
Grenade offers 15+ flavours including seasonal limited editions. Barebells has around 10 core flavours. If variety matters, Grenade has the edge. If you find one you love and stick with it, Barebells’ smaller but consistently excellent range won’t be a problem.
Availability
Grenade is stocked in virtually every UK supermarket, petrol station, and convenience store. Barebells has expanded rapidly but still isn’t quite as ubiquitous — you’ll find them in Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and WHSmith, but less often in corner shops.

Final Recommendation
Buy a mixed box of each and decide for yourself. At this level, both bars are excellent and the differences are subtle. If forced to pick one: Grenade for macros, Barebells for taste.
